Tony Burnett started his career at the young age of 8. After first hearing the sounds of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, he knew what he wanted to do. After driving his parents nuts that entire year, they finally gave in and got him his first guitar for Christmas. Not having any formal training at the beginning, and not really knowing what to do, Tony just went off of his ear and started figuring out his favorite riffs and licks from the bands he loved to listen to. Still at this time, the guitar was just a fun hobby, because during Tony's grade school years, he was heavily involved in sports and wanted to be a professional football player. But one day, a friend of his played Tony a copy of Van Halen's first album, and everything changed forever. Tony remembers that day like it was yesterday, says Tony "at the risk of sounding corny, when i heard "Eruption" for the first time, it changed my life forever. I always tell people Tony Iommi made me want to play guitar, Eddie Van Halen made me turn it into a career." Tony then went on to learn everything there was about the guitar and music in general. When junior high rolled around, Tony sought to involve himself in every school music program that was available to him. Realizing there was no guitar in the school band, Tony chose the next best thing, drums. This is where Tony's drum training started to take shape. Throughout Tony's high school years, Tony was involved in every school band, playing drums in the marching, jazz and concert bands, and playing in his own rock bands as a guitarist. Tony started playing the Hollywood circuit at the age of 14 and was quickly recognized as the newest, youngest up and coming guitar sensation of the 80's. After high school, Tony embarked on a world tour covering 35 states and 5 different countires. After that, Tony enrolled in GIT Hollywood to further his chops and knowledge of music theory. In 1994, Tony started Burnett Music and has dedicated his entire professional career to music education, training young musicians to become rock stars. Tony gets no better reward than to take a student, share his knowledge with them and see them blossom into a monster player. Tony teaches a variety of classes including private guitar, drum and bass guitar lessons, music theory, recording, rock school and music business and promotion classes.
